One of the questions I get asked most often before an engagement session is, "What should we wear?"

The good news is there isn't one perfect answer. The best outfits are the ones that make you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourselves. My goal is always to capture genuine moments, and feeling great in what you're wearing makes a huge difference.

Here are my favorite tips to help you prepare for your engagement session.

Wear Colors That Complement Each Other

You don't need to match exactly.

Instead, choose colors that coordinate naturally. Soft neutrals, earth tones, creams, blues, greens, and warm browns photograph beautifully together.

Try to avoid everyone wearing the exact same color. Coordinating creates a much more timeless look than matching.

Dress for Your Location

Your location should influence your outfit choices.

For example:

Red Rock Canyon

Warm earth tones, flowing dresses, boots, and natural textures look incredible against the desert landscape.

Bellagio

Elegant dresses, suits, and dressier outfits complement the luxurious atmosphere.

Fremont Street

This location is perfect for bold colors, leather jackets, denim, and outfits with personality.

Avoid Large Logos

Logos and large graphics tend to draw attention away from you.

Simple, timeless clothing keeps the focus exactly where it belongs, on your connection together.

Bring Two Outfits

If your session allows enough time, I always recommend bringing two outfits.

One dressier look and one casual outfit gives your gallery more variety while making it feel like two completely different sessions.

Don't Forget Comfortable Shoes

Some of my favorite locations involve walking.

You can always wear comfortable shoes between locations and change into dress shoes once we arrive.

Accessorize Thoughtfully

Simple jewelry, hats, jackets, or scarves can add personality without overwhelming your photos.

Remember, less is usually more.

Most Importantly...

Don't stress too much about creating the "perfect" outfit.

The best engagement photos come from genuine laughter, conversation, and simply enjoying the experience together.

If you're unsure about your outfit choices before your session, I'm always happy to help you decide.

My goal is to make the entire experience fun, relaxed, and completely stress free so you can focus on celebrating this exciting season of your life.
